Introduction

xG supremacy is the simplest and most powerful indicator of which team is truly in control of a match — regardless of scoreline.

It’s calculated by subtracting one team’s xG from the other’s:

xG Supremacy=Team A xG−Team B xG

The higher the number, the greater the underlying dominance.
