Real Sociedad host Celta Vigo at Anoeta on Thursday night, and neither side arrives in the shape their supporters were hoping for. Sociedad beat Espanyol 2-1 last time out, but they were taken apart 4-1 by Real Madrid before that. Celta are still waiting on a first win, beaten by Athletic Club and Osasuna either side of a goalless draw with Valencia.
The market has made the hosts a fairly comfortable favourite on the back of that Espanyol result. At the price, it looks a shade short.
Wednesday Results
Wednesday’s card returned one from two. Dundee and St Johnstone finished 1-1 with both goals arriving in the closing four minutes, Charlie Reilly heading the hosts in front on 87 and Josh Fowler levelling on 90, which landed the Second Half Over 1.5 at 2.02. Barnsley beat Blackpool 2-1, but all three goals came after the interval, so the First Half Over 1.5 at 2.53 went down.
Real Sociedad v Celta Vigo (8pm UK)
Real Sociedad are 1.96 at home, the draw 3.56 and Celta out at 3.50. Full-time xG comes in at 1.70 for Sociedad against 1.22 for Celta, a 2.92 combined total that sits a little under the La Liga average. Across their last ten, Sociedad create around 1.63 goals a game and concede 1.28, with Celta at 1.18 and 1.61. The gap between them is real, but it is narrower than tonight’s prices suggest, and Celta’s trouble so far this season has been in front of goal with just one goal scored across three league games, four conceded, including a clean sheet against Valencia.
